Hope on a Windowsill
a
wish
bone
one
thanks
giving
day
met
another
left the
year before
waiting wanting
wanting waiting
for that special
some one
to pull
on the
other side.

ReplyDeleteI love the way this poem is done. Good job on the writing technique and language transition :)
ReplyDeleteHillarious, creative form -- nicely done.
ReplyDeletesmiles...nicely done concrete form....we used to dry the wishbone as a child....someone seem to be storing up wishes i would say....smiles...happy thanksgiving
ReplyDeleteI've never done a (successful) concrete poem, and there are many that - in my opinion - don't quite hit the mark. But this one - this one is good, with the form naturally increasing the tension between the separated words. Well done!
ReplyDeleteThank you, that's quite the compliment coming from someone whose poetry I really admire. You made my holiday weekend. Happy Gobble Day to you and yours.
DeleteI agree entirely with Semaphore's remarks. Congrats.
ReplyDeleteWow, this is wonderful. You worked the Thanksgiving theme into a concrete poem beautifully!
